Plaster Casting Experiments, 2024. For the Last Nuclear Bomb Memorial option studio with Professor Jesús Robles, I collaborated with my project partner and close friend Andy Demetriou to develop plaster cast models for our proposal. Andy discovered that heating the natural gypsum sand from White Sands National Park transforms it into a natural plaster of Paris. Using this method, I created rough, Pantheon-inspired domes with oculi and experimented with relief textures by casting directly onto sand formwork. The goal was to explore a sustainable building technique that uses only materials found on site, allowing structures to emerge from the landscape itself.
