Architecture of the Poor Report, Arid Regions Seminar, 2024. For Bob Vint’s Arid Regions Seminar class, one of the best courses I’ve taken at the University of Arizona, my good friend Billy Howe the Third and I created a Canva website exploring Hasan Fathy’s Architecture of the Poor. The book offered a powerful look at Fathy’s approach to social housing, regionalism, and the use of local materials. This assignment introduced me to an architect whose work and philosophy left a lasting impression.
