Sawhorse Table Concept, 2022. Inspired by a desire to create a sawhorse-style table, I explored the idea of earth-cast legs and modeled the design in Rhino. The concept builds on my earlier tile experiments, using them as small-scale studies for this larger project. The table legs are essentially scaled-up versions of the tiles, combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative casting techniques to achieve a striking and functional design. A key challenge was envisioning the sawhorse table legs as self-standing supports. To achieve this, I designed internal connections to attach Baltic birch legs to the earth-cast concrete table legs. This required precise integration to ensure the Baltic birch tabletop could be supported as a standalone piece, balancing form and structural stability.
