Paintings from Spain, 2024. Using chisel-tip Posca markers, I painted on found materials like stair boards, cabinet doors, and wood scraps, often gathered during my neighborhood's weekly trash furniture pickup day, a tradition originating from the Franco era. This practice not only connected me to local history but also offered endless inspiration and canvases for my art. I explored Spain by taking the subway to random stops or venturing into unfamiliar parks, choosing each location as the setting for a new painting. Spending hours in one place allowed me to truly absorb the atmosphere, translating it into layers of paint. My technique involved sketching the scene first, then adding and retracing layers of color until I achieved a finished piece that captured the moment. This process helped me improve my skills while discovering the city in a deeply personal way. Each painting reflects the places I visited and the vibrant life of Spain, combining exploration, creativity, and connection.
