Film Photography 101, 2023. This past summer, after moving to San Diego to attend City College (SDCCD), I took Film Photo 101 with Jason Reimer. This incredibly rewarding studio class deepened my appreciation for film photography. Learning to operate a 35mm film camera and master the intricacies of developing black and white film in the lab was both challenging and enjoyable. Adjusting enlarger heights, perfecting timing in the developing baths, and refining prints in the darkroom were some of the most fulfilling aspects of the process. Jason’s exceptional teaching made the experience unforgettable, and I highly recommend his course to anyone. During my time in San Diego, I explored the city, capturing shots of beautiful installations and architecture, particularly in Balboa Park and downtown. Wandering the city with my camera was both inspiring and fun. This course not only sharpened my technical skills but also fueled my passion for film photography, and I can’t wait to continue exploring this medium.
